Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Support Worker to join our team. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting our service users with all aspects of their care, including activities and personal care.
Main Responsibilities
- Assist in the assessment, planning, and implementation of mental health care to meet the needs of the individual.
- Participate in the development of high-quality care, ensuring the needs of the older person are met.
- Participate in occupational and diversional activities.
- Assist with the physical needs of clients, helping with dressing, washing, toileting, and other personal needs where necessary.
- Undertake duties aimed at supporting the patient to return to live in the community, where appropriate.
- Observe the patient's general condition and report any changes to the appropriate health professional.
- Be aware of their responsibilities under the Health & Safety at Work Act and work in such a way as to encourage an atmosphere conducive to healthy working conditions.
- Be aware of and comply with all relevant policies and procedures laid down by Navigo.
- Work flexibly, participating in a 24-hour rota.
- Attend and participate in ward/department meetings as required.
- Be aware of the need for complete confidentiality.
- Participate in supervision and PDR processes as per local policy.
- Participate in mandatory and other training as required.
Person Specification
Essential
- Has a basic understanding of the Mental Health Act 1983, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and DoLs.
- Basic written communication skills to enable completion of records, etc.
- Demonstrates a good understanding of mental health.
- NVQ level II or a willingness to undertake this or a certificate in Mental Health.
Desirable
- Basic IT knowledge.

- Aware of Health & Safety principles of self and others.
- Demonstrates ability to listen and communicate effectively and to be empathic, compassionate, and patient.
Desirable
- Demonstrate ability to work as a team member and form positive, therapeutic relationships with service users, carers, and the wider multi-disciplinary team.

- Be accessible and flexible in availability.
- Willing to travel within the geographic work area in an effective manner.

- Ability to work flexibly, including weekends, evenings, nights, and bank holidays as required to meet service needs.
