Senior Financial Policy Governance Lead

The role of Senior Financial Policy Governance Lead at Barclays UK involves developing and analysing the bank's financial and regulatory policies, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, internationally agreed standards, and regulations.
Key Responsibilities- Financial Policy Development: Develop and assess financial policies, standards, and associated controls that govern statutory and regulatory reporting obligations.
- Implementation and Support: Manage the implementation of financial and regulatory policies across departments and business units, providing support to employees on policy interpretation and application.
- Regulatory Review and Impact Assessment: Continuously review evolving laws, regulations, and guidance affecting operations, assessing their impact on the bank's business activities, financial performance, and risk profile.
- Communication and Training: Communicate policies to relevant stakeholders in a clear and concise manner, developing and delivering training programs to ensure employee understanding and adherence.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Manage communication with regulatory authorities, participating in consultations and providing feedback on proposed regulations.
- Strategic Initiatives: Contribute to function-wide strategic initiatives, influencing policy and procedures for the function and managing multiple complex projects.
- Team Management: Manage a large team or sub-function, leading other people managers and embedding a performance culture aligned to the business values.
- Expert Advice: Provide expert advice to senior functional management and committees, offering significant input to function-wide strategic initiatives.
- Resource Management: Manage resourcing, budgeting, and policy creation for a significant sub-function.
- Breaches and Compliance: Escalate breaches of policies/procedures appropriately and foster compliance, ensuring regulations are observed and relevant processes are in place.
- External Focus: Focus on the external environment, regulators, or advocacy groups to monitor and influence on behalf of Barclays when appropriate.
- Business Knowledge: Demonstrate extensive knowledge of how the function integrates with the business division/Group to achieve overall business objectives.
- Industry Insight: Maintain broad and comprehensive knowledge of industry theories and practices within their own discipline alongside up-to-date relevant sector/functional knowledge.
- Problem-Solving: Use interpretative thinking and advanced analytical skills to solve problems and design solutions in complex situations.
- Decision-Making: Exercise management authority to make significant decisions and certain strategic decisions or recommendations within their own area.
- Negotiation: Negotiate with and influence stakeholders at a senior level both internally and externally.
