Job Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Macmillan Clinical Nurse Specialist developmental post within the Hull and East Riding Community Specialist Palliative Care Team.

The successful candidate will be employed in a band 6 development role and will become a band 7 once the essential qualifications for the role are achieved.

Main Duties of the Job

The role combines clinical leadership, expertise, and complex palliative and end-of-life care management to promote palliative and end-of-life care.

As an RN with a minimum of 2 years' experience working within a palliative care setting, you must have advanced palliative care clinical experience, knowledge, and skills.

You must also have a commitment to the delivery of high-quality patient care.

Person SpecificationQualifications
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Teaching and assessing qualification, and/or experience
  • Evidence of personal/professional development
  • Relevant MSc in palliative care or oncology
  • Extended non-medical prescriber (V300)
Knowledge
  • Advanced palliative care clinical practice, knowledge, and skills, including problem-solving complex issues
  • Practice development skills in line with knowledge and skills framework
Experience
  • Experience of formal or informal teaching and experience of developing/contributing to teaching and training programmes
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with a multi-professional team, whilst challenging and negotiating clinical practice
  • Proactive approach to team working and change management
  • Leadership, negotiation, and facilitation skills
  • Advanced clinical assessment skills and decision-making skills
  • Excellent organisation skills and able to manage competing priorities
  • Motivated and enthusiastic approach to advancing clinical care
  • Advanced communication skills
  • Experience of initiation and conducting assisting with research projects and audit activity
