PhD Position in Wall-Bounded Turbulence
The Department of Engineering at the University of Cambridge invites applications for a PhD position in wall-bounded turbulence, supported by an EPSRC DLA Studentship. As a researcher in this field, you will contribute to advancing our understanding of inter-scale causality in turbulent flows.
Your primary responsibilities will include designing and implementing numerical simulations of turbulence over smooth and complex surfaces, leveraging advanced computational methods to analyse the dynamics of turbulent eddies. The ultimate aim is to derive novel insights into the behaviour of wall-bounded turbulence, facilitating breakthroughs in fields such as engineering and physics.
**Annual stipend:** £17,609 (in line with UKRI rates).
**Supervision:** Collaborative supervision by experienced academics in the field of turbulence research.
To be considered, applicants should possess a strong academic record, preferably with a 1st class honours degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering, Maths (fluids/applied), or a related field. A solid foundation in computational mathematics and experience with relevant software packages are also necessary.
