Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom MPOWIR Mentoring Physical Oceanography Women to Increase Retention Full time
Opportunity for Research Excellence

We are excited to offer a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in our Ocean Dynamics group at the University of Cambridge. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore the fluid dynamics of the ocean boundary layer beneath ice shelves and create new parameterisations for turbulence and melting.

The successful candidate will use high-resolution direct numerical and large-eddy simulations to study turbulence in the ice-shelf ocean boundary layer during melt conditions. They will work closely and collaboratively with the whole project team, including scientists in DAMTP and the British Antarctic Survey in Cambridge.

To succeed in this role, you will need a PhD in Oceanography, Earth Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related field, and experience using numerical simulations. Familiarity with stratified turbulence, boundary layers, and/or ocean-ice interactions is highly desirable.

This is a full-time position, and we estimate the annual salary to be around £**45,000** - £**55,000**, based on qualifications and experience.
