At Teaching Personnel, we are seeking a dedicated Class Teacher to join our team and work with pupils who have profound and multiple learning disabilities and a range of other special education needs in South Gloucestershire.

This exceptional special school boasts a caring team that supports children with profound learning disabilities, offering a holistic and creative approach to learning that helps each pupil develop independence and skills in various contexts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement personalized education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's unique needs, abilities, and learning goals.
  • Regularly assess students' progress, identifying their strengths and areas for improvement, and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
  • Adapt teaching methods and resources to cater to different learning styles, abilities, and disabilities, ensuring all students can access the curriculum.
  • Collaborate with teaching assistants, parents, therapists, and external professionals to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and structured classroom environment that supports positive behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Provide pastoral care and help students develop social, emotional, and communication skills.
  • Stay updated with the latest SEN practices, attend professional development sessions, and implement new strategies for improved teaching outcomes.
  • Advocate for students' needs within the school system, ensuring they have access to the necessary resources and support.
  • Maintain clear communication with parents or caregivers, updating them on student progress and involving them in the education process.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A proven track record of strong teaching
  • An understanding of the needs of pupils with a range of SEND
  • Highly skilled at differentiating teaching for learners with a range of needs
  • Experience of various assessments to inform pupil progress
  • A team player with a collaborative ethos
  • Experience of working with children of different ages and learning needs
  • Skills and attributes of nurturing, tolerance, acceptance, creativity, adaptability, and integrity
  • Experience of working with a range of class support staff
