Teaching Personnel seeks a dynamic Lead English Teacher to join a non-profit independent special school in Westbury, committed to delivering a diverse curriculum with academic, vocational, and outdoor learning.

The ideal candidate will develop and implement a tailored English curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN). They will deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons using various strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a tailored English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons using various strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.
  • Regularly assess student progress, set learning goals, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all students make progress.
  • Provide guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants in delivering English lessons and meeting SEN students' needs.
  • Implement positive behaviour management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
  • Work closely with other staff, including SEN coordinators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic support for each student.
  • Lead training and development sessions for staff on effective English teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
  • Develop and manage resources for English teaching, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for SEN students.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered
  • Experience of teaching to secondary class/group
  • Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
  • Experience within an SEN setting an advantage
