Job Title: Lead English Teacher
Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified and experienced English teacher to join our team at a non-profit independent special school in Westbury. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a tailored English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a tailored English curriculum that meets the diverse needs of students with special educational needs (SEN).
- Deliver engaging and differentiated English lessons using various strategies and resources to support individual learning styles and needs.
- Regularly assess student progress, set learning goals, and adapt teaching methods to ensure all students make progress.
- Provide guidance and support to other teachers and teaching assistants in delivering English lessons and meeting SEN students' needs.
- Implement positive behaviour management strategies that support a safe, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
- Work closely with other staff, including SEN coordinators, therapists, and support staff, to ensure holistic support for each student.
- Lead training and development sessions for staff on effective English teaching strategies and SEN best practices.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress, challenges, and achievements.
- Develop and manage resources for English teaching, ensuring they are accessible and appropriate for SEN students.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher (QTS/QTLS/PGCE) preferred but other recognised teaching qualification considered
- Experience of teaching to secondary class/group
- Ability to prepare and deliver appropriate curriculum using a range of teaching styles and methodologies.
- Experience within an SEN setting an advantage
