Lead English Teacher - SEN School

A reputable and well-organized SEN school is searching for a dedicated and skilled Lead English Teacher to lead the English department in their alternative provision. The role offers a unique opportunity to make a lasting impact in the lives of young people with special educational needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the English department, ensuring high-quality teaching and learning for students with complex needs.
  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans tailored to students with SEMH difficulties, incorporating differentiated strategies.
  • Monitor student progress, using data to inform teaching approaches and interventions.
  • Support and mentor staff in delivering English across the curriculum, promoting a cohesive and effective approach.
  • Collaborate with the SENCO, leadership team, and staff to develop the provision's curriculum and contribute to overall school improvement.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and carers to foster a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in English or a related subject.
  • Proven experience in teaching English at secondary level, preferably within an SEN or alternative provision setting.
  • Strong leadership skills, with experience in leading or supporting a team of teachers.
  • A thorough understanding of the national curriculum and experience adapting it to meet the needs of students with SEN and SEMH.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire students and staff.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all students.
