About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Porter to join our team at Barts Health NHS Trust. As a Porter, you will play a vital role in providing a safe and efficient transport service to patients, staff, and visitors across our hospitals.

Main Responsibilities

  • Transport patients, staff, and visitors safely and efficiently between departments and locations
  • Operate hospital equipment, such as wheelchairs and stretchers, to facilitate patient movement
  • Assist with the loading and unloading of patients from ambulances and other vehicles
  • Provide a high level of customer service to patients, staff, and visitors, responding to their needs and concerns in a professional and courteous manner
  • Work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the smooth operation of patient transport services

Requirements

  • Full UK driving license
  • Ability to lift and move patients safely, using manual handling techniques and equipment
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with patients, staff, and visitors from diverse backgrounds
  • Basic computer skills, with the ability to use hospital systems and software
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, nights, and weekends, as required
