About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Healthcare Assistant to join our team at Primary Care Careers. As a Healthcare Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our nursing team in providing high-quality patient care.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the clinical team in the provision and delivery of prescribed programmes of patient care.
  • Apply clinical skills and knowledge to carry out high-quality practice within designated clinical areas.
  • Support the nursing team in wound care, venepuncture, phlebotomy, and administering medicines and vaccines.
  • Conduct new patient health checks and re-stock surgical equipment and vaccines.
  • Prepare and maintain environments and equipment before, during, and after patient care interventions.
  • Provide valuable health promotion and education for service users, their families, and carers.

About Us

Primary Care Careers is a busy town centre practice based over two locations with 13,500 patients. We have our own in-house dispensary and are a training practice with several registrars working alongside our partners and salaried GPs. Our nursing team consists of 3 x nurse practitioners, 2 practice nurses, 1 trainee nurse associate, and 2 other HCAs. We are a friendly and supportive practice who actively support career progression.

Person Specification

  • Successful completion of the Care Certificate or willingness to undertake.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent.
  • Experience of working within a GP practice.
  • Strong clinical skills, confidence, and competence in all HCA duties.
  • Excellent patient-facing communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Consistently confidential manner, compassionate, and respectful approach.
  • Ability to work independently and determine own workload priorities.
