Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Mental Health Housing Specialist to join our team in Somerset. This is an exciting opportunity to work with vulnerable individuals, providing tailored support to promote independence and sustainable tenancies.

About the Role

  • This is a full-time position available, working 7 days a week on a rotating shift.
  • You will be responsible for assessing the needs and risks of tenants, providing intensive housing management services, and promoting wellbeing.
  • Your role will involve tenancy sign-ups, property re-lets, processing referrals, and maintaining health and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Provide robust support to vulnerable individuals experiencing mental health issues, empowering them to sustain their tenancies.
  2. Assess the needs and risks of tenants, developing personalized plans to promote independence and wellbeing.
  3. Manage tenancy sign-ups, property re-lets, and referrals, ensuring seamless service delivery.
  4. Maintain high health and safety standards, ensuring a safe environment for tenants and staff.

Requirements

  • You should have experience working with vulnerable individuals, preferably in a housing or mental health environment.
  • Excellent administration, organization, and planning skills are essential for this role.
  • Proficiency in IT systems, including Microsoft applications, email, and internet, is required.
  • You must have a good understanding of tenancy/housing management practice, lettings procedures, relevant legislation, and current issues within the housing sector.
  • A knowledge of Welfare Benefits, Housing Benefit, and Universal Credit is also necessary.
