Mental Health Specialist for Older Adults

We are seeking a skilled Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team and provide specialist care to older adults in their community area. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of patients and contribute to the delivery of high-quality mental health services.
Job Responsibilities- Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct thorough assessments and diagnoses of mental health needs of community patients, ensuring accurate identification of treatment requirements.
- Collaborative Care: Work closely with community teams to deliver effective multidisciplinary care, including consultation, regular team meetings, and case discussion.
- Responsible Clinician: Act as the responsible clinician for community patients subject to compulsory treatment orders under the Mental Health Act (CTOs).
- MHA Assessments: Undertake Mental Health Act (MHA) assessments as the Trust Section 12 doctor for patients in their care, including those detained under S136.
- Clinical Leadership: Provide visible and clear clinical leadership to the mental health service both locally and across the Trust.

Required Skills and Qualifications- Essential: Entry on the GMC specialist register.
- Desirable: S12/AC approval, Approved trainer, MRCPsych, Further professional qualification.
- Essential: Experience in assessment and management of older adults.
- Desirable: Leadership experience, Service improvement in OPMH.
- Essential: Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desirable: Teaching experience, Research experience.
