About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Sourcing Procurement Specialist to join our team at Compass Group UK & Ireland Ltd. As a key member of our procurement function, you will play a critical role in driving value and excellence in our sourcing activities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and Execute Sourcing Strategies: Work closely with category development, CBM, and supply chain teams to develop and execute strategies that secure value for our clients.
  • Lead Sourcing Projects: Lead strategic and tactical work streams and deliver results on sourcing projects, ensuring compliance with internal governance and external audits.
  • Build Relationships and Collaborate: Build great relationships with clients, stakeholders, and internal teams, collaborating to identify future opportunities for value creation.
  • Raise the Profile of Strategic Sourcing: Create a platform to 'tell our story' both internally and across our client base, highlighting the value and excellence of our sourcing activities.
  • Identify Market Trends and Insights: Identify market trends and insights around best-in-class procurement and apply learnings to our approach, processes, and procedures to stay ahead of the competition.
  • Develop and Maintain Networks: Develop and maintain a great internal and external network and working relationships with key stakeholders, ensuring the safe and ethical sourcing of great products and services.
Requirements
  • Working Knowledge of End-to-End Supply Chain: Working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain within a retailer, foodservice, or FMCG organisation.
  • Strong Decision-Making and Commercial Acumen: Strong decision-maker with good commercial acumen, comfortable working under pressure.
  • Experience of Supplier Negotiation: Experience of supplier negotiation and proven ability to reduce cost against tough market backdrops.
  • Strategic Procurement Skills: Demonstration of strategic procurement skills, extending beyond tactical tenders.
  • Ability to Work Under Pressure: Ability to work under pressurised timelines and deadlines, with a confident presentation style.
  • Commercial and Negotiation Skills: Highly commercial, strong negotiator, exceptional communicator, and influencer at all levels.
  • Buying Pedigree and Category Management Knowledge: Strong buying pedigree and category management knowledge, with advanced computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to Multi-Task and Maintain a Strategic Viewpoint: Ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure, and always maintain a strategic viewpoint.
