About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to join our team at Compass Group UK & Ireland Ltd. As a key member of our procurement function, you will play a critical role in driving business growth and delivering value to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Sourcing: Develop and execute strategies to secure value for all clients by taking categories or spend to market based on agreed triggers.
  2. Tender Management: Manage a number of tenders, both through your team of buyers and independently (depending on category complexity), ensuring projects deliver against/surpass set targets, through best practice and following the Foodbuy Procurement Framework Processes.
  3. Client Relationships: Build great relationships with clients, stakeholders, and the internal team, collaborating to help identify future opportunities for value creation.
  4. Team Management: Team management, development, and coaching to ensure buyers are performing to their optimum ability.
  5. Market Insights: Identify market trends and insights around best-in-class procurement and apply learnings to our approach, processes, and procedures to keep us ahead of our competition.
  6. Risk Management: Commodity and business management risk - document and demonstrate risk management strategies in line with your supply base, with support of category.
  7. Commodity Research: Research and monitor commodity markets and macro trends.
  8. Sustainability: Support Foodbuy's wider sustainable sourcing challenges and ensure contracting compliance.
Requirements
  1. Procurement Experience: Working knowledge of end-to-end supply chain within a retailer, foodservice, or FMCG organisation.
  2. Strategic Sourcing: Strong background in procurement, specifically focused on strategic sourcing and/or category management.
  3. Influencing Skills: Ability to influence and gain buy-in from senior level stakeholders both internally and externally to Foodbuy.
  4. Commercial Acumen: Strong decision maker, with good commercial acumen who is comfortable working under pressure.
  5. Project Management: Strong work ethic with ability to manage multiple projects and meet challenging deadlines.
  6. Cost Reduction: Proven ability to reduce cost against tough market backdrops.
  7. Team Leadership: Experience managing/mentoring a buyer(s) and ability to increase performance.
  8. Strategic Thinking: Demonstration of strategic procurement, which extends beyond tactical tenders.
  9. Negotiation Skills: Effective negotiation, facilitation, and conflict management skills.
