About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Category Manager to join our team at Foodbuy. As a Category Manager, you will be responsible for leading the end-to-end procurement process for our beverage category, including planning and executing procurement strategies, identifying value and commercial gains, and unlocking contract renewals and new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Procurement Leadership: Manage and lead the end-to-end procurement process across all Compass and Foodbuy Group lead projects, ensuring optimal balance between value for money, innovation, quality, service, and cost savings.
  • Strategic Planning: Define and implement procurement strategies for all new Foodbuy lead contracts, identifying the best commercial value model and collaborating with internal teams and sales teams.
  • Category Management: Understand how you contribute to the wider Foodbuy Group with regards to savings and your category, and support the development of category plans to deliver business savings.
  • Sourcing and Negotiation: Support the RFX sourcing framework and drive competition through running robust end-to-end tenders, negotiations, and eAuctions, making data-driven decisions based on facts and analysis of total cost of ownership.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Cultivate and develop continued positive relationships with all internal and external stakeholders to deliver the category procurement strategies and realize business savings.
  • Transformation and Innovation: Work alongside our brand Commercial Directors and GPO clients to execute transformation projects and collaborate with key stakeholders to drive innovation and sustainability goals for end clients.
  • Category Planning: Build and be part of the delivery of category plans by being at the forefront of innovative and collaborative relationships to help deliver for our end clients.
  • Cost Optimization: Actively minimize revenue and capital costs through improved use of tools and processes, and consistently track and report on savings targets.
  • Communication: Communicate the value of the Procurement function to the business and ensure that stakeholders understand the benefits of our procurement strategies.
Requirements
  • Management and Leadership: Natural and articulate around management, with good listening skills and the ability to deliver and influence communication concisely and steer conversation to influence decisions needed.
  • Commercial Acumen: Strong decision maker with a strong commercial acumen, comfortable working under pressure, and able to reduce cost against tough market backdrops.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Proven ability to work cross-functionally and evidence of an ability to work with different levels of seniority.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, and analytical and methodical with the ability to multi-task, remain calm under pressure, and always maintain a strategic viewpoint.
  • Team Player: Genuine team player with a customer and market focus, staying close to customers, suppliers, and competitors to create market leadership for the business.
  • Industry Knowledge: Experience in the alcohol industry and procurement, with a grasp of the alcohol industry and the nuances of working with vendor brands.
  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to be strategic and see the bigger picture, with proven capability to build and implement strategies, and lead complex large-scale projects.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Has the technical skill combined with sufficient gravitas to be recognized as a subject matter expert, and competent with procurement systems, ideally having used these in current/previous employment.
