About the Role

Climax Studios, a leading creative force in independent games development, is seeking an experienced and multi-talented Lead Environment Artist to join our team. As a key member of our art department, you will be responsible for conceiving, creating, and leading the team in producing innovative visual experiences for AAA titles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement artistic visions for AAA titles, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and engaging game experiences.
  • Lead and mentor a team of environment artists, providing guidance and support to ensure high-quality deliverables and efficient project workflows.
  • Collaborate with art directors and other stakeholders to define and refine art styles, ensuring consistency and alignment with project goals.
  • Develop and maintain a deep understanding of current-gen technology and industry trends, applying this knowledge to drive innovation and excellence in environment art.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects and tasks, ensuring timely delivery and meeting project deadlines.
  • Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, to ensure clear understanding and alignment on project goals and expectations.

Requirements

  • At least 4+ years of experience in console development, with a minimum of 2 shipped titles and one as a Lead Artist.
  • Effective visual and verbal communication skills, with the ability to direct internal or external teams or individuals.
  • Excellent resource management and judgment, with the ability to assign artists of varying skill sets to multiple projects.
  • Comfortable liaising with and presenting to clients in an authoritative and professional manner.
  • A self-motivated team leader who is outgoing, friendly, gregarious, with attention to detail and a passion for delivering the best possible game experience.
  • Autonomous in managing deadlines and budgets, with excellent time management skills.
  • Experience managing art teams effectively and in a timely fashion.
  • 2-3 years experience developing and implementing solid art production pathways.
  • The ability to find creative solutions when troubleshooting and assessing risks.
  • A good understanding of cutting-edge artistic techniques and tools, with the ability to implement them into current practical practices.
