The role of a Payroll Operations and Pensions Specialist is a vital part of ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of payroll operations for 500 colleagues. Located in Lewes, this position will provide an excellent opportunity to work with a leading charity dedicated to providing exceptional education and care for children and young adults with complex neurodisabilities, physical disabilities, and health needs.

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Payroll Operations and Pensions Specialist to lead the delivery of daily payroll operations, ensuring compliance, efficiency, and a positive colleague experience. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of payroll best practices and regulations, as well as experience in payroll operations or a similar role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process the monthly payroll accurately and on time, ensuring that all payroll and pension processes align with tax, labour, and pension regulations.
  • Lead process audits and maintain up-to-date documentation for regulatory review.
  • Collaborate with People, Finance, and IT teams to drive continuous improvements and deliver strategic transformation to automate and optimise services.

Requirements

  • A proven track record in payroll operations or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of payroll best practices and compliance.
  • Professional certification in Payroll (e.g., CIPP) and experience with payroll systems such as ACCESS XD.

  • A competitive salary of £40,000 - £55,000 per annum.
