About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Orthoptist to join our team at The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for leading our orthoptic services and managing a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the development and delivery of high-quality orthoptic services, including clinical care, education, and research.
  • Manage a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals, providing guidance, support, and supervision as needed.
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to ensure the effective management of orthoptic services.
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure seamless care for patients.
  • Contribute to the development of the ophthalmology department's strategic plan and objectives.
Requirements
  • Registered Orthoptist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience in leading orthoptic services and managing a team of healthcare professionals.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with patients, families, and healthcare professionals at all levels.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
