Job Title: Lead Orthoptist

About the Role:

The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Orthoptist to join our team. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for leading the orthoptic service and managing a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the orthoptic service, ensuring high-quality patient care and effective management of clinical workload.
  • Manage a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals, providing guidance, support, and supervision as needed.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve patient outcomes, service delivery, and team performance.
  • Collaborate with other departments and services to ensure seamless care and effective communication.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines related to orthoptic practice.

Requirements:

  • Registered Orthoptist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
  • Proven experience in orthoptic practice, with a strong understanding of ophthalmology and related services.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, patients, and families.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
