Job Title: Lead Orthoptist

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Lead Orthoptist to join our team at the Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust. As a key member of our ophthalmology department, you will be responsible for leading the orthoptic services and managing a team of orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in orthoptics, with experience in managing clinics, supervising staff, and developing quality-driven services. You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the orthoptic services, including managing clinics, staff, and resources
  • Developing and implementing quality-driven services, aligned with the Trust's objectives and strategy
  • Supervising and assessing orthoptists, optometrists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Managing sickness, absence, and annual leave for the orthoptic team
  • Providing training, supervision, and assessment of undergraduate and postgraduate orthoptists
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Experience in ophthalmology, with a strong background in orthoptics
  • A Master's degree or leadership courses
  • Previous experience in managing clinics, staff, and resources
