We have partnered with LCH SA, which offers clearing of Bitcoin index futures and options contracts traded on our platform. This will be made available through a new segregated clearing service, LCH DigitalAssetClear.

We cater to large global institutional participants who require a regulated, institutional-grade trading venue for digital asset derivatives, including bitcoin index futures and options. Our services are designed to provide a secure and transparent environment for trading digital assets.

Job Description

The successful candidate will join the Market Surveillance Group, part of the broader Compliance team. The primary responsibility will be real-time and post-event monitoring of trading in derivatives across our platform to detect activity that could harm the firm and its reputation. They will work closely with experienced staff to develop the capacity for high-quality routine surveillance with minimal supervision.

The candidate will also collaborate with the Compliance team, local business lines, support functions (including IT and Operations), and other stakeholders to identify business changes and regulatory developments warranting updates to existing or development of new surveillance patterns. This will ensure comprehensive coverage for the Firm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Real-time market monitoring and timely analysis of alerts escalated by Nasdaq MTS surveillance tool to prevent market or Firm damaging misconduct.
  • Perform ad-hoc reviews and screening of trading activity by analyzing complex situations, identifying high-risk behaviors, and applying judgment to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Maintain relationships with Compliance Coverage teams and relevant Business Units.
  • Work with Technology teams and/or vendors in developing new tools and Surveillance controls.
  • Handle relevant day-to-day inquiries from Participants.
  • Conduct certification and conformance tests for new participants.
  • Continuous market monitoring and keeping up to date with industry news.

Regulatory Inquiries

  • Preparing and assessing materials for internal investigation.
  • Assisting the Legal and Compliance team in conducting order/trade data analysis.
  • Collaborating with IT to ensure the Regulatory Inquiry system/tool is up-to-date and accurate.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in the financial services industry or relevant internships in regulated trading venues, trading firms, or regulators.
  • Experience with one or more asset classes such as Equities Derivatives / FI / Commodities / FX / Digital Assets.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical and investigative skills.
  • Ability to multitask and handle multiple compliance reviews and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
  • Proactive in identifying risks and proposing solutions.
  • Familiarity or exposure to trading desks, electronic trading markets, or the securities industry is advantageous.
  • Strong willingness to learn and ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to create and foster relevant industry relationships and networks.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is around £60,000 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience. GFO-X offers competitive benefits and a dynamic working environment.

This role is based at our offices in London and reports directly into the Head of Market Surveillance. Application from any region is acceptable, but candidates based in the United Kingdom will be given preference.
