Maintenance Plant Fitter – Mechanical Specialist

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Fitter – Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and inclusive environment, contributing to the maintenance and upkeep of our quarrying operation and asphalt plant.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs and temporary fixes are followed up with permanent solutions.
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs on all production equipment.
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers when on site.
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function.
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations.

Requirements

  • Recognised apprenticeship (preferably higher-level standard).
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential).
  • Strong practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred.
  • Fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend action.
  • Ability to remove and fit bearings.
  • Capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs.
  • Ability to assess SHE risks and control risks accordingly.
