Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Fitter - Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. As a key member of our 24/7 engineering function, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure assets are returned to production in a timely manner
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance planning
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A recognised apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience working in an industrial or factory environment
  • Strong practical mechanical systems background, with experience in conveyors, drive systems, and heavy industry
  • Fault finding ability and ability to recommend appropriate action
  • Ability to remove and fit bearings and undertake emergency breakdown repairs
  • Ability to assess SHE risks and control risks accordingly
