Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Maintenance Plant Fitter – Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. As a key member of our engineering function, you will be responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment and plant at our quarry and asphalt plant operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure assets are returned to production in a timely manner
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient way on all production equipment
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers when they are on site
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function through your own observations and experience
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, following all company processes and procedures

Requirements

  • Recognised apprenticeship (preferably a higher-level standard)
  • ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential)
  • Strong, practical mechanical systems background, heavy industry preferred
  • Fault finding ability to identify defects and recommend appropriate action
  • Ability to remove and fit bearings
  • Capable of undertaking emergency breakdown repairs in a timely and efficient manner on all production equipment
  • Ability to assess SHE risks arising from work activities and control risks accordingly
