Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Fitter - Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. As a key member of our engineering function, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance planning
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
  • Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our engineering function
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations

Requirements

  • Recognized apprenticeship in a mechanical trade
  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in a heavy industry environment
  • Strong practical mechanical systems background, including conveyors, drive systems, and heavy machinery
  • Fault finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
