Job Summary

We're seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Fitter – Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. As a key member of our 24/7 engineering function, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing our plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Respond to plant breakdowns and ensure timely repairs to minimize downtime
  • Undertake emergency breakdown repairs and preventative maintenance planning
  • Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth operations
  • Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you'll need:

  • A recognized apprenticeship in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Proven experience working in an industrial or factory environment
  • Strong practical mechanical systems knowledge, including conveyors, drive systems, and heavy industry equipment
  • Fault finding and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
