Maintenance Plant Fitter

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Plant Fitter - Mechanical to join our team at Tarmac Barrasford Quarry, Hexham, Northumberland. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and inclusive environment, contributing to the success of our quarrying operation and asphalt plant.
Key Responsibilities- Respond to plant breakdowns, ensuring timely repairs and temporary fixes are followed up with permanent solutions.
- Undertake emergency breakdown repairs on all production equipment, prioritizing efficiency and safety.
- Liaise with the Section Manager to plan and execute preventative maintenance, including shutdowns and small-scale projects.
- Coordinate with contractors and suppliers, ensuring seamless site operations.
- Participate in root cause analysis to eliminate repeat failures and contribute to the continuous improvement of the engineering function.
- Work with risk assessments and method statements to develop safe working methods for repair procedures.
- Maintain and promote Health & Safety rules and regulations, reporting unsafe conditions and practices.
- Utilize the computerized maintenance management system to record all work, including fault descriptions, spares used, and repairs carried out.
- A recognized apprenticeship (preferably higher-level standard) and ONC/HNC (desirable but not essential).
- A strong, practical mechanical systems background, with experience in heavy industry, particularly conveyors, drive systems, motors, belts, pumps, gearboxes, crushers, and vibratory screens.
- Excellent fault-finding ability, with the capacity to identify defects and recommend appropriate action.
- Ability to remove and fit bearings, undertake emergency breakdown repairs, and perform welding and fabricating to a good standard.
