Job Title: Respiratory Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Nurse Specialist to join our team at University Hospitals of North Midlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality care to patients with asthma, working closely with the Royal Stoke Adult Asthma Team.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Take on a caseload of patients to support from referral onwards, contributing to planning diagnostics work-ups to support asthma diagnosis and confirm eligibility for biologics.
  • Administer biologic injections to patients, assess the response, deliver questionnaires, and request relevant investigations.
  • Help patients to use medication appropriately, check inhaler technique, and improve patients' understanding of medication.
  • Coach patients to become independent and provide remote and face-to-face support.
  • Assess, monitor, and provide management plans to patients in nurse-led clinics (virtual and face-to-face).
  • Assist with training patients to self-administer medication and complete clinical proformas for local and regional multi-disciplinary team meetings.
  • Enter patient data onto the national BTS Severe Asthma Registry.
Requirements:
  • Familiarity with specific treatments/medications for asthma patients.
  • 3 years post-registration experience with 1 year in respiratory medicine.
  • NMC registered and Non-Medical Prescribing qualification.
  • Experience of nurse-led clinics.
