Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Dispenser/Receptionist to join our team at White Cliffs Medical Centre. As a key member of our dispensary team, you will be responsible for processing prescriptions, maintaining accurate records, and providing excellent patient care.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Check all medicines dispensed for discrepancies and ensure safe and accurate dispensing to patients.
  • Collect prescription charges and maintain stock levels within the dispensary.
  • Receive and store supplies, ensuring the cold chain is maintained where applicable.
  • Ensure controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy.
  • Dispose of returned and/or out of date medicines safely.
  • Process repeat prescriptions within a 48-hour timeframe.
  • Provide patients with advice on prescription matters.
  • Process prescription requests via various channels.
  • Assist the dispensary manager in preparing monthly returns.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Participate in audits as directed by the audit lead.
  • Provide guidance to trainee dispensary staff and students.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest guidance to ensure the dispensary conforms to NICE, CQC, etc. standards.
  • Carry out reception/admin duties as required.

Person Specification

Qualifications

  • Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2)
  • GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above

Experience

  • Experience working in a dispensary
  • Experience working with the general public/patients
