Pharmaceutical Dispenser

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmaceutical Dispenser to join our team at White Cliffs Medical Centre. As a key member of our dispensary team, you will be responsible for dispensing medicines to patients in accordance with practice policy and extant legislation.
Primary Responsibilities
- Checking all medicines dispensed to ensure accuracy and quality
- Dispensing medicines to patients safely and efficiently
- Collecting prescription charges and maintaining accurate records
- Maintaining stock levels and ordering supplies as needed
- Receiving and storing supplies in accordance with current policy
- Ensuring controlled drugs are dispensed in accordance with practice policy
- Safe disposal of returned and/or out of date medicines
- Processing repeat prescriptions within a 48-hour timeframe
- Providing patients with advice regarding all prescription matters
- Processing prescription requests via various channels
- Assisting the dispensary manager in preparing monthly returns
- Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
Secondary Responsibilities
- Participating in audits as directed by the audit lead
- Providing guidance and support to trainee dispensary staff and students
- Remaining current with the latest guidance and ensuring the dispensary conforms to NICE, CQC etc. standards
- Carrying out reception/admin duties as required
Person Specification
- Qualified Dispenser (NVQ Level 2)
- GCSE (or equivalent) English and Maths at Grade C (4) or above
- Experience of working in a dispensary and with the general public/patients
- Desirable: experience of working in primary care and broad knowledge of general practice
