Job Overview

In this exciting opportunity, you will play a vital role in supporting the Multidisciplinary Team within the NHS. As a Medical Secretary, you will provide administrative support to enable a comprehensive secretarial service to the clinical team and contribute to the ongoing development of the service.

The ideal candidate will have excellent organisational skills, be highly motivated, and possess a high level of competence with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel spreadsheets. They will also have experience of working on patient administration systems and providing a competent administration/PA service to a senior manager/clerician.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is friendly, approachable, and has great communication skills. You will promote change and efficiency, work effectively as part of a team, and maintain confidentiality at all times.

Salary: £24,071-£25,674 per annum (pro rata). Benefits include use of a car or access to a means of mobility to travel across the Trust footprint in line with service needs.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Multidisciplinary Team, including general office duties such as typing of medical and other correspondence.
  • Liaise effectively with GPs, patients, social workers, CPNS, ward staff, etc., regarding medication queries, appointments, referrals, and emergencies.
  • Maintain electronic tracking systems for case-notes, ensure safe dispatch of patient information, and release information only to authorised persons.
Person Specification
  • Good level of general education, including GCSE English.
  • Competence with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel spreadsheets.
  • Working knowledge of patient administration systems.
  • ECDL qualification.
  • AMPSPAR Diploma.
  • Shorthand/speedwriting qualification.
  • Medical terminology.
