Job Title: Principal Commercial Lawyer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Commercial Lawyer to join our team at the London Borough of Lewisham. As a key member of our Legal Services department, you will be responsible for managing a team of lawyers and providing expert legal advice to the council and its stakeholders.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial law, with experience in managing a team and providing strategic advice to senior stakeholders. You will be responsible for:

  • Providing complex legal advice and assistance to the council and its stakeholders
  • Managing and leading a team of lawyers to deliver high-quality legal services
  • Developing and implementing legal strategies to support the council's objectives
  • Collaborating with other departments to ensure effective delivery of legal services
  • Providing training and development opportunities to team members
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A current practicing certificate as a Barrister, Solicitor, or Legal Executive
  • Strong experience in commercial law, with a focus on team management and leadership
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
