Job Title: Principal Commercial Lawyer

We are seeking an experienced Principal Commercial Lawyer to join our team at the London Borough of Lewisham. As a key member of our Legal Services department, you will be responsible for managing a team of lawyers and providing expert legal advice to the council.

About the Role:
  • Manage a team of lawyers and provide guidance and support to ensure the delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Provide expert legal advice to the council on commercial matters, including contracts, procurement, and property law.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Legal Services department.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure that legal advice is integrated into council decision-making.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in commercial law and ensure that the council is aware of any implications for its operations.
Requirements:
  • Qualified lawyer with a strong background in commercial law.
  • Experience of managing a team of lawyers and providing guidance and support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments and stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
