Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Administrative Officer to provide support to the Leader of the Council. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating business activities, managing correspondence, and ensuring effective communication between the Leader and other Council members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative and secretarial support to the Leader, including business coordination, mail and correspondence management, and telephone queries.
  • Arrange meetings, manage diaries, and ensure communication of decisions and effective follow-up action.
  • Prepare and produce documents, including briefing notes and filing.
  • Support other Council members, including dealing with telephone queries, arranging meetings, and diary management.
  • Receive and manage telephone calls and personal approaches related to Council services or issues.
  • Draft replies to correspondence and undertake research tasks in support of the Leader's policies and objectives.
  • Prepare agendas, draft briefing papers, attend meetings, and produce action notes.
  • Facilitate and promote the flow of information between the Leader, other Council members, directors, and external contacts.
Essential Requirements
  • Experience of the roles of Members and Officers within the decision-making process.
  • Ability to establish good working relationships with people both internal and external.
  • High level of literacy and numeracy.
Working Arrangements

37 hours per week. Observatory House, Slough SL1 2EL.
