About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Children's Support Worker to join our team at Vetro Recruitment. As a Senior Children's Support Worker, you will be responsible for leading by example and supporting the management team to run the shift, taking greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members, and encouraging young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead by example and support the management team to run the shift
  • Take greater responsibility for mentoring and supporting newer staff members
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their own lives depending on their age
  • Keep the homely, friendly culture and environment of the homes
  • Protect children and young people from risks to their health and welfare
  • Provide support for the children and young people in the home and promote their independence and well-being
  • Maintain a safe environment for young people
  • Ensure the safety of the students and maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the individual's; care plan, guidelines, reward system and preferred method of communication
  • Support taxing behaviour safely and sympathetically
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with the staff, parents, Social Workers and other professionals involved in the young people's lives such as Psychologists
Requirements
  • NVQ or QCF Level 3 in Children and Young People or equivalent is ESSENTIAL
  • 2-year experience in a residential children's home environment is ESSENTIAL
  • A Full Driving Licence is ESSENTIAL as you may be required to transport the children from time to time
  • Ability to work the shift pattern (8am-10pm plus sleep ins)
