Job Title: General Practice Nurse Career Development Specialist
We are seeking an experienced General Practice Nurse to join our team as a Career Development Specialist. In this role, you will work alongside our pioneering Nursing Development Open Doors clinical tutors to provide holistic, person-centred care in a multi-professional team setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide travel advice and vaccinate patients appropriately.
- Assess and care for patients with uncomplicated wounds, including removal of sutures and clips.
- Support and advise patients on reproductive and sexual health matters.
Communication Skills:
- Communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams, patients, and carers.
- Anticipate and address barriers to communication.
- Act as an advocate for patients' and colleagues' viewpoints.
Administrative Tasks:
- Maintain accurate patient records using agreed SNOMED codes.
- Participate in practice audits and research projects as required.
General Duties:
- Maintain annual registration with the NMC and professional indemnity.
- Ensure adherence to The Code: Professional Standards of Practice and Behaviour for Nurses, Midwives, and Nursing Associates.
- Promote a professional approach through attire and attitude towards patients and staff.
Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Location: Tower Hamlets, London
About the Role:
This is an exciting opportunity to work in a community-based setting providing holistic, person-centred care in a multi-professional team. As a General Practice Nurse Career Development Specialist, you will be employed by an appointed GP practice and work closely with the whole Practice Team. You will spend hours per week partly working clinically and partly having time out to study. This is arranged flexibly to meet the needs of the practice and fit in with study needs of the nurse and clinical experience needed.

- Essential Qualifications:
- Educated to degree level obtaining First Class/2:1 qualification.
- Registered with the Nursing & Midwifery Council.
- Desirable Knowledge and Experience:
- Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of nursing theory and best practice at the level of a newly qualified nurse.
- Knowledge of primary health care and General Practice.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Demonstrates an empathetic and caring approach to patients and relatives.
- Maintains patients' dignity and respect at all times.
