Expert Sickle Cell Disease Specialist Nurse

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Children’s Nurse to join our team as an Expert Sickle Cell Disease Specialist Nurse. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people with Sickle Cell Disease.
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert advice, education, support, and interventions to children and young people with Sickle Cell Disease and their families. You will work closely with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care and improve the quality of life for our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing expert assessment, plan, and evaluation of patient care
- Offering advice and support to all staff involved in the care of children and young adults with Sickle Cell Disease
- Acting as an advocate for patients and staff, ensuring they receive the understanding and facilities they need to manage their condition
- Communicating sensitive condition-related information to children and families in a caring, developmentally appropriate, and jargon-free manner
- Participating in audit activities to assess and monitor the quality of nursing practice
- Developing and maintaining good working relationships with staff supporting the needs of children with Sickle Cell Disease
Requirements:
- Registered Children's Nurse qualification
- First Degree in a relevant subject
- Community Qualification (Specialist Practitioner)
- Experience of caring for children with Sickle Cell Disease in a community or acute setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Sound knowledge and understanding of Safeguarding processes

Salary: £38,890 - £44,503 per annum (dependent on experience)
