An exciting opportunity has arisen for a skilled Composites Manufacturing Specialist to join Rolls-Royce plc in Bristol. As a key member of our Engineering, Test and Safety business, you will work closely with the UltraFan Integrated Project Team to deliver composite fan systems.

With a focus on manufacturing methods, processes, and materials for composite fan blades and containment casings, this role requires strong expertise in CNC machining, CAD modelling, and CAM programming. You will develop and implement efficient manufacturing processes to meet customer requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, and Lead time.

This position involves managing packages of work within the Composite Technology Facility (CTF) and collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve results. You will drive the composite machining process towards zero defects through cost and quality waterfalls, owning the technology plan and strategy as we head toward industrializing the UltraFan system.

To be successful in this role, you will need an engineering or relevant discipline degree, hands-on practical experience with CNC machines, and knowledge of manufacturing engineering tools. Experience with 5-axis CNC machines, including on-machine probing, is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Delivery of machining programmes and processes for composite components
  • Ensuring machining techniques meet customer requirements
  • Development of Technical Packages for manufacturing process control
  • Identification of opportunities for new or improved processes using statistical process control
  • Driving the composite machining process to zero defects

Requirements:

  • Engineering or relevant discipline degree/HND/HNC
  • Previous experience working in a manufacturing engineering role
  • Hands-on practical experience with CNC machines
  • Experience in CAD modelling and CAM programming for 5-axis CNC machines
  • Understanding of manufacturing engineering tools
