About the Role

Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Trainee Children's Wellbeing Practitioner to join our CAMHS Gateway service. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to work with children and young people with common mental health problems.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be undertaking a 12-month training course at the University of Exeter, studying the Postgraduate Diploma in Brief Evidence-Based Interventions for CYP with Common Mental Health Problems (CWP). During this time, they will be trained under supervision to deliver brief evidence-based therapeutic interventions within a stepped care model.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Deliver brief evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children and young people with common mental health problems.
  • Work under supervision to develop skills and knowledge in therapeutic interventions.
  • Attend university-based taught and self-study days as required.
  • Work in the service for the remaining days of the week using newly developed skills.

Requirements

  • Education to undergraduate degree level.
  • Able to attend formal training as required.
  • Able to complete academic components of the course.
  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem.
  • Computer literate.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary Care.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and how it relates to this post.
