Business Rate Recovery and Council Tax Collection Opportunity

We are seeking enthusiastic and self-motivated individuals to join our Revenue Services Department as Business Rate Collectors and Council Tax Recovery Officers. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in helping the Council maximise its income to provide essential services to its residents and businesses.

About the Role

As a Business Rate Collector or Council Tax Recovery Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely collection of business rates and council tax. You will work closely with the billing and collection teams, as well as external stakeholders, to resolve liability enquiries and assist residents and businesses in making arrangements to pay.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect and process business rates and council tax payments
  • Resolve liability enquiries and disputes
  • Work closely with the billing and collection teams to ensure accurate and timely collection of revenue
  • Assist residents and businesses in making arrangements to pay
  • Provide excellent customer service and communication skills

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Excellent communication and administrative skills
  • Good knowledge of the billing and collection process
  • Previous experience in a revenues environment is desirable
  • A sound understanding of local government income and the ability to demonstrate this knowledge
