Job Overview

Kings College Hospital is one of the UK's largest and busiest teaching Trusts, providing a full range of local and specialist services across its five sites. As a Senior Sister in our Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, you will play a crucial role in leading a team of nurses to deliver high-quality care to critically ill and stable babies and their parents/carers.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, developing nursing leaders for the future and providing individualised professional leadership and clinical development. Our goal is to be a hospital of choice by improving all aspects of the patient experience, relying on a highly skilled, motivated, diverse, productive and patient-focused workforce.

Main Duties

  • To provide expert, high-standard care to critically ill and stable babies and their parents/carers within the King's College Hospital.
  • To assist in the leadership and development of an identified group of nurses within the Unit.
  • To act as a clinical resource and link nurse within the Unit and across the Care Group as necessary.

Requirements

  • Evidence of clinical expertise, relevant to the area.
  • Previous experience of leading change in the clinical environment.
  • Sound knowledge and ability to implement Trust's safeguarding/child protection policies and procedures.
  • Communication skills – able to relate and communicate with parents and staff at all levels and from different professions.
  • Team building and working skills – able to lead a team to achieve results.
  • Mentorship programme or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Working towards a willingness to study at degree level.
