Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Banking Expansion Strategist to join our team at Wise.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional to lead our LatAm Banking and Expansion efforts, working closely with our Product Leads to define opportunities and direction for our products in Latin America. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for deepening our regulatory infrastructure in Brazil, maintaining and improving existing relationships with banks and other financial institutions, and driving commercial and relationship discussions with partners to ensure we offer the most sustainable and competitive service in the market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the LatAm Banking and Expansion team by providing tools and coaching for them to grow and operate independently.
  • Work with our Compliance and Government Relations teams to manage our relationships with regulators and other important non-commercial relationships, such as the government.
  • Develop and implement strategies to deepen our regulatory infrastructure in Brazil.
  • Maintain and improve existing relationships with banks and other financial institutions, focusing on transaction banking agreements that enable us to build and expand our product.
  • Negotiate commercial and relationship discussions with partners to ensure we offer the most sustainable and competitive service in the market.
  • Create new opportunities within existing relationships with financial institutions in Brazil to continuously improve our product.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of financial regulation in the region, including experience working directly with regulators.
  • Excellent business fluency in Portuguese (required) and Spanish (strongly preferred).
  • A passion for transforming the financial industry for good.
  • Familiarity with corporate banks and financial institutions, including their decision-makers.
  • The ability to negotiate ideal terms with a clear product vision and understanding.
