Reigate, Surrey, United Kingdom WeDo Full time

Role Overview:

WeDo, a leading provider in the financial services industry, is seeking a skilled QA Software Engineer to join their QA Community of Practice. This is a fantastic opportunity for a mid-career QA Engineer who values a balance of manual and exploratory testing while pushing towards automation.

About the Position:

  • As a QA Software Engineer, you will work closely with developers and product owners to ensure the quality of WeDo's core Cloud SaaS product through all test phases.
  • Your focus will be on tackling complex test cases and mitigating risks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Restructure the Cypress framework, focusing on cleaning up getters and selectors.
  • Ensure the framework adheres to modern best practices and is extensible.
  • Drive the 'automation-first' approach by reducing reliance on manual testing.
  • Improve delivery cadence speed.
  • Longer-term, focus on load and performance testing, followed by optimising test automation at the system integration level using C#.

What We're Looking For:

  • A strong QA mindset that considers all types of testing.
  • Confidence in exploratory testing.
  • A passion for pushing towards an automation-first approach.
  • Expertise in UI testing using Cypress with JavaScript/TypeScript frameworks.
  • A focus on clean code and creating extensible frameworks—no hard coding.
  • Experience restructuring and expanding existing Cypress frameworks to follow best practices.
  • Strong analytical skills, particularly in writing detailed test plans and cases that provide meaningful context rather than surface-level insights.
  • Ability to perform high-level exploratory testing against acceptance criteria, ensuring features are introduced to a high standard.
  • Experience with continuous integration and delivery—bonus points if this is on Azure DevOps.
  • Confidence in context-switching while working with a team of six QA Engineers.

About Our Team:

Our team consists of 55+ strong QA Engineers and a wider Engineering Community of over 500.

Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum (based on London location).

Benefits:

  • 10% bonus.
  • 14% pension.
  • Private health insurance.
  • Critical illness cover.
  • Parking or a 5-minute walk from the train station.
  • Clear career pathways.

Interview Process:

  1. Initial interview with the QA Director (30 minutes).
  2. Remote technical Cypress test.
  3. Final interview with the QA Manager, Delivery Director, and one other team member.
