Job Overview

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing specialist assessments and interventions to autistic service users across acute and community mental health services. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and meet the needs of service users under the care of acute mental health services, as well as provide outreach input to a defined cohort within community and recovery mental health services.



Main Responsibilities

  • Providing client-centred autism specialist services to a defined caseload of service users with complex needs across acute and community mental health
  • Working closely with multidisciplinary teams to identify and meet the needs of service users under the care of acute mental health services
  • Providing outreach input to a defined cohort within community and recovery mental health services
  • Developing and implementing individually-tailored interventions, including planning for and facilitating transitions


Person Specification

The ideal candidate will have:



  • A professional qualification in mental health (Occupational Therapist, Social Worker, Mental Health Nurse, Clinical Associate Psychologist, Cognitive Behavioural Therapist, or Arts Therapist)
  • Current registration with the relevant professional body (HCPC, NMC, BPS, BABCP)
  • Experience of working with autistic people, including applying core profession-specific skills in assessments and interventions
  • Knowledge of mental health difficulties and a holistic approach to understanding an individual's presentation in the context of wider biopsychosocial aspects
  • Principles of clinical governance and clinical and environmental risk assessment and safety planning

Salary and Benefits

The salary for this role is £45,000-£60,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a comprehensive benefits package including pension scheme, annual leave and training opportunities.
