About the Opportunity

Powys County Council is seeking a skilled Family Services Coordinator to join their team. The successful candidate will work with children, young people, and their families who require additional services following a Social Work assessment.

The role involves working closely with experienced Social Workers and Wellbeing Workers, supported by two Team Co-ordinators who handle administrative tasks and provide general business support. The team prioritizes professional development and career progression for all members.

The Fostering Team oversees aspects of fostering, including recruitment, retention of foster carers, and assessment and support of family and friends who foster.

Social workers have manageable caseloads, receive thorough induction, regular reflective supervision, and additional support when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to children and families, promoting successful outcomes through active engagement and motivation.
  • Develop effective communication skills to work with families in challenging situations, including hostile or high-risk environments.
  • Utilize creative strategies to engage with children, encouraging them to express their thoughts and feelings.
  • Assess and manage risks to children, providing timely and proportionate interventions.
  • Build strong relationships with families and identify individual support networks.

Job Requirements:

  • Deliver a social work service to individual children and young people, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and partners to achieve effective teamwork and outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of mutual respect and open communication within the team.
  • Identify and address risk issues related to individual children's circumstances.

This position requires an Enhanced DBS Check.

Remuneration

We offer a competitive remuneration package, including a salary range of £40,000 - £48,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits.
