About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team on a 9-month fixed-term contract. As a key member of our group function, you will play a crucial role in guiding the successful outcomes of the team and taking a strategic view across adjacent teams to standardize approaches and ensure high-quality software reaches our customers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide the definition of the strategy for the management of technical debt within the team to ensure that our systems are secure, resilient, and reliable.
  • Enthusiastically promote inspection and adaptation to improve team effectiveness and happiness, supporting changes to enhance processes and culture.
  • Build a culture of mutual respect, collaboration, and engagement within the team, coaching, mentoring, and supporting less experienced engineers to develop and grow their skills.
  • Provide line management and other professional guidance to a group of between two and five engineers, helping them navigate the business and adhere to the Company's policies and procedures.
  • Coach the team to develop their own long-term goals and objectives around software engineering quality, safety, and security.
  • Help your team ensure that all customers and stakeholders are treated fairly in line with our principles on the Customer Experience and Treating Customers Fairly policy.
Requirements
  • An advanced understanding of software testing is essential.
  • Knowledge of Agile software development methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban, is essential.
  • Knowledge of web security is preferable.
  • Experience of contributing to maintainable software features is essential.
  • Experience of guiding, coaching, and mentoring colleagues is essential.
