We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to join our team at Legal & General. As a key member of our engineering function, you will play a critical role in guiding our team of engineers and contributing to the development of high-quality software solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the definition of technical strategies and architectures to ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Guide the team in the development of software solutions, ensuring they meet quality, security, and compliance standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to enhance team effectiveness and happiness.
- Provide coaching, mentoring, and guidance to less experienced engineers to develop their skills and advance their careers.
- Partner with the Developer Community to define software development standards and ensure compliance with security, compliance, and audit requirements.
- Manage and develop a team of engineers, providing line management and professional guidance to help them navigate the business and achieve their objectives.
Requirements
- Advanced understanding of software testing, CI/CD, and Agile software development methodologies.
- Experience working as a technical contributor within a development team and participating in effective code reviews.
- Knowledge of web security and experience of analysing, debugging, and solving difficult problems.
- Experience of guiding, coaching, and mentoring colleagues and managing technical individuals or whole teams.
- Ability to break down complex requirements into achievable solutions and manage technical debt within the team.
