Council Administrator and Finance Officer

Norton Parish Council is a vibrant and active local authority that serves the communities of Norton, Campsall, and Sutton. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to fill the role of Clerk to the Council and Responsible Financial Officer.
Job DescriptionThe successful applicant will be responsible for managing the council's administration, including servicing meetings, preparing agendas, minute-taking, and compiling correspondence. They will also be required to fulfill the statutory role of Responsible Financial Officer, undertaking research, advising the council, and carrying out other duties as necessary.
This is a part-time position of 15 hours per week, with the successful applicant working from home except for attendance at meetings held in the Parish Rooms in Norton. The ideal candidate will be IT literate, able to use the Microsoft Office suite, and have experience in local government administration.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the council's administration, including meetings, agendas, and correspondence
- Fulfill the statutory role of Responsible Financial Officer
- Undertake research and provide advice to the council
- Carry out other duties as necessary
We are looking for an individual who is highly motivated, enthusiastic, and has excellent communication skills. The successful applicant will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team, and have a strong attention to detail.
BenefitsThe salary for this position falls within the NJC scale 24 - 28, which is £17.16 to £19.05 per hour depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to the salary, the successful applicant will have the opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with opportunities for professional development and training.
