About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Assistant Management Accountant to join our Financial Management team at Avon & Wiltshire Mental Health Partnership NHS Trust. As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in providing financial advice and support to managers and clinicians within the west division.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the preparation of accurate monthly management accounts, forecasts, and production of annual budgets.
  • Work with staff to explain variances between budgeted and actual expenditure and help them to take corrective action.
  • Maintain and enhance the customer-orientated approach of the Finance Team through the provision of timely and professional help and advice.
  • Investigate financial enquiries, providing assistance and advice as required.
Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • AAT part-qualified
  • Significant, relevant experience of working in a Finance department
  • Experience of preparing management accounts

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

  • Experience of preparing monthly forecasts
  • Experience of assisting in an annual budget setting process
  • Experience of preparing variance analyses
  • Experience of preparing reports for budget holders
  • Experience of pushing budget holders for corrective action to adverse variances
  • Experience of working in NHS or Social Services Finance
